Okay, if you are serious about losing weight then you need to realize that this is going to be a dramatic life change for you. It’s going to be tough at first, but eventually it will become habit and you will be feeling confident and wonderful about yourself. I did weight watchers, and I can tell you from experience that it is not a “gimmick.” Weight watchers is different from other programs as it isn’t a “diet” persay. All they do is teach you the proper foods to eat and you count your calories each day, or as they call them, your “points.” Plus, you exercise. Then they give you reciepie’s, support groups, and interesting ideas to keep you motviated.
However, if you are dead againts joining, then my recommendation is to look up the Canada food guide. It will tell you how many servings of each food group you need. Eliminate all junk from your diet, but allow yourself the ocassional treat (maybe a muffin every 2 weeks, or an ice cream) so you don’t feel deprieved. Find a work out buddy and encourage each other to go to the gym 3-5 times a week. You can lose 1-2 lbs a week and be healthy, but any more than that is hazerdous to your health.
If you really want to do this, then you have to simply do it. If you are feeling iffy or are unwilling to try new foods and spend time looking up healthy reciepies etc, then it isn’t going to work. I lost 40 lbs in 6 months and i feel great! I have kept it off for 2 years now. You can do it if you really want to.
Hey there, I would watch your calorie intake, make sure you eating enough, but not TOO much. Eat lots of meats, (like fish and chicken), fruits, veggies and nuts. Cut out a lot of chips, cookies, ice cream, soda, pastas, breads, and anything fried, greasy or full of sugar. Here is a site with some low-cal recipe’s & a page to find your BMI.
Also, start getting in some exercise, I think that will make more of a difference than anything else. Make sure your heart rate is up, do cardio workouts like jogging or bicycling. Good luck to you, don’t become discouraged!
