you sure can. especially in the beginning of starting a routine. keep it changing and challenge your body. sticking to 20 minute workouts will be a great way to keep yourself fit and healthy! you can work your way up to 40 minutes a day slowly! you dont have to go whole hog until you notice that it’s not actually a work out anymore. you need to keep it physically challenging or it does nothing. try to mix in tai chi with yoga, its a great combo! that is what my daughter and i do, yoga one day and tai chi the next.
good for you!!
You should start with the shorter sessions and then build in to longer sessions. If you are combining the elements of cardio in sun salutations, strength in your asanas, breathing, flexbility and balance I think you will be very happy with your results. Yoga when practiced regularly and properly is mind body and spirit altering. If you practice in the evening make sure you do the calming asanas- this will improve your sleep. Always be mindful to listen to your body each practice. Your needs and limitations will be different each practice and never go beyond a “comfortable challenge”. Namaste
20 minutes is really a bare minimum. I wouldn’t expect much.
Weight loss is a function of calories in vs. calories out. 20 minutes isn’t enough to burn a lot of calories, especially if you’re doing low intensity/low heartrate stuff like yoga.
Any weight loss will have to come from calorie restriction.
