I started doing more excercise and stopped eating junk food about two weeks ago, where i would generally weigh about 64.8kg, now i weigh 63. Is this weight loss or could it easily just be a fluctuation in weight?

I’m 6′0 male and about 255lbs at 16 years old. The last time I took a BMI test said I had about 47% body fat. My height actually helped me so I’m not really wide. I rarely eat junk food. I cook nearly everyday. My family is Fil-Am, so we eat a lot of rice. I’m guessing the oily foods we cook and rice we eat are the main source of my problem, besides my lack of excercise? Haha! Anyways, a lot of fat is around my stomach, thighs, and arm areas. There isn’t a set date or time that I have to lose the weight but I wish to accomplish it by July or even August 2010. The earlier, the better. I’m willing and committed to using any schedule that will help me accomplish my weightloss goals. These are my goals:

1. Lose approximately 50lbs (or even more! I’d deeply appreciate it)
2. Lower my BMI/body fat to 23%
3. Maintain a ‘normal’ and proper weight for my height.

Why the specific BMI? I’m looking forward in getting a commission in the US Navy. Academically, I can easily get in. Physically, I would be denied or be medically discharged in a snap. I know from 47% to 23% is A LOT of work but like I said, I’m really willing to lose this weight.

If the workout plan that any of you suggest requires an adjustment in my eating habits, then I’m willing to change it. I have weights and a treadmill inside my home, so any workouts including those are a big help to me. I am willing to sacrifice many “good-eats” for the weight loss. I really want this commission and I really want to lose this weight. I do not believe in diet pills. My apologies if that was a suggestion but I’m not interested in pills. I’m looking forward in losing the weight myself, not with a gym. Other than that, any suggestions and plans would be deeply appreciated!

I am 17 years old and I’m trying to lose weight and do not have the time or the resources to lose weight (i.e lack of family support, etc.). I know a classmate who used to be chubby and she came back to school after a summer and she looked like she had never been overweight. Honestly, she was very pretty slim and NOT stick thin either. She looked extremely happy and healthy. I know for sure that she didn’t lose all that weight (its a LOT of weight) the natural way by excersice and dieting.
So please reccomend some that ACTALLY WORK…..I would really appreciate it and it would do great for my stressful lifestyle. Any suggestions and help would be appreciated!!!!!! Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Everyone.

I have had two babies in two years and I am also getting married October 17, 2009. I am wanting to lose 45 lbs by October and have started a daily routine. I was wondering if you all could look over and give suggestions, ie what to add, take out, or even things you all have tried that helped. Every comment will be appreciated. Thanks so much. Enjoy your weekend.

Breakfast – Slimfast shake and 1 piece of reduced calorie whole wheat bread w/ one tbl of peanut butter.

Lunch – one can of Select harvest light chicken soup with rice. and one turkey sandwhich which is one slice of reduced cal. wheat bread, mustard, lettuce, deli turkey, 2% cheese and some water.

Dinner – a select harvest soup and a chicken ceasar salad or a house salad and a 6 oz. ribeye with steamed mixed veggies.

Snacks – 2 a day: usually a 100 calorie pack of nutter cookies and one 90 calorie granola bar.

For excercise I go to the gym everyday but Sunday and do

30 mins on treadmill at 5% incline and 3.0 mph
20 mins on stationary bike
and the toning machine circuit my gym offers.

So what do you all think? Will I lose the 45 lbs by October? Should I be doing anything differently? Thanks everybody. Have a great weekend!!

Ok question for the natural/healthy food eaters and excercise people?

OK i just want to start out by saying that i am one of you! i Work out 6 days a week, lift weights, cardio, run ect. ect. I eat really healthy, leans meats, whey, non-fat yogurt, fish, shrimp, canned veggies, canned fruit(college student…fresh is too expensive), oatmeal… i pretty much stay away from packaged foods (except the canned but i always get organic or low-sodium/light syrup)
my question is i tend to cheat alot, i go a week eating really healthy and excercising them sometimes i just pig out. I need a stopper and i love ice cream, especially the ben and jerrys, so here is my question, if i eat really healthy around 1500 calories a day, excercise and eat a whole container of ben and jerrys on once a week (on average about 1000 calories a container) will this be harmful to weightloss, and when i get my system flushed out will it just make it crappy again?
I need to add, i have muscles and can almost see a 6-pack, but i have a little flab around the belly, thighs and buttox, and i need(well dont need but want to) to lose the fat in 2 months for springbreak, ive been working out about 2 hours a-day, running around 3 miles. will i still lose weight if i eat one thing of ben and jerrys once a week.

ok! medicare will cover my gastric surgery 80%, I’m trying to get medicaid to cover the 20%, but they now say i need a 1 year unsuccessful weightloss history, now i have been going to my pcp since 12/2007 regarding my weight, all throughout 2008 i came to my pcp and tried diet pills, 1200 calorie diets, excercise etc. any way i had no success in losing the weight, we documented this info on my progress notes, i was also told before that i need a six month to 1 year of unsuccessful w.l. now there saying 1 year not 6 months, anyway they denied me now i’m filing for an appeal, can anyone link me or give any info. of how long medicade requires documentation of unsuccessful weightloss in michigan. so if i file this appeal do you think i could have a good chance of getting approved for gastric bypass surgery
